Heroes with big hearts remembered - Hong Kong

The selfless act of donating organs not only gives recipients second chances - it can also inspire and motivate many others.

Among those whose lives have been touched is Leung Cheuk-yin, who shared her story yesterday at a Hong Kong Society of Transplantation event to mark the nearing Mid- Autumn Festival.

Leung's father died of a stroke at 53. But since he had signed up as an organ donor years before, his final act proved to be giving his liver and kidneys to three people.

"My dad deserved to be recognized as a real-life hero," she said. "His generosity gave three people a second chance at life."
