The Tech Museum in San Jose has granted awards to technologists who are having a significant social impact while the Classy Awards have recognized philanthropists and other social entrepreneurs for their creativity and impact.
The Classy Awards:
The ClassyAwards recognized 16 individuals and organizations who receive fundraising opportunities through eBay and StayClassy. The winners for 2012 were:
The Charity of the Year award went to the Wounded Warrior Project, which works âTo raise awareness and to enlist the publicâs aid for the needs of injured service members; to help injured servicemen and women aid and assist each other; and to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet their needs.â
The Small Charity of the Year award went to Team Rubicon, which âunites the skills and experiences of military veterans with medical professionals to rapidly deploy emergency response teams into crisis situations.â
The Best New Chairty of the Year award went to Taylorâs Gift Foundation, which advocates for organ donation and was named for Taylor Storch, whose organs were given to five different people, in some cases saving their lives and restoring vision to one.
