A delighted six-year-old from Clevedon who survived a life-threatening heart condition, has won a gold medal at the British Transplant Games.
Sofia Allarakha-Bapushah also won a bronze medal at the annual event, which was this year held in Medway, Kent.
Nearly 1,000 people aged between two and 82 and all of whom have undergone a life-saving organ transplant, took part in the games, competing in 14 different sports ranging from archery and tennis, to canoeing, swimming and track and field.
The Games are organised on behalf of the charity Transplant Sport UK (TSUK) and is one of the biggest annual multi-sports events in the UK.
Staged annually since 1978, the aim is to encourage transplant patients to regain fitness and to demonstrate the benefits of organ transplantation. However, the most important message it to promote awareness of the need for more people to become organ donors and discuss their wishes with their families.
This is the third year that Sofia has competed and in that time has totted up an incredible eight medals.
