A man who ended his twin brother's decades of illness by donating a healthy kidney has discovered not everyone shares his spirit of generosity.
Andrew Garland is taking insurance group, QBE, to court after denying his claim for the weeks he spent off work recovering from transplant surgery.
After watching his brother Scott endure months of dialysis, Andrew found he was able to offer the donor kidney that would transform his quality of life.
The life-saving surgery carried out in November 2010 was a success, and now Scott is back to work and has a new baby son.
Andrew was forced to take around eight weeks off work to recover - a loss he believed would be covered by his income protection insurance.
But insurance company, QBE, rejected his claim, arguing he was not covered under the policy.
