NEENAH â€" At age 58, Neenah resident Peter Casper became a poster child.

Motorists who travel south on U.S. 41 near Neenah might have seen Casper’s picture on a billboard with the words, “One kidney. One life. Can YOU donate? AKidneyForPeter.com.”

“It’s hard to see yourself on a billboard,” said Casper, who is on a waiting list for a kidney at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital in Milwaukee. “I’ve had people come up to me and tell me I’m famous. It’s a little bit overwhelming. I’m not usually one to be in the news.”

Blue Door Consulting of Oshkosh donated its creative services for the billboard and website to help call attention to Casper’s plight. Casper said the campaign has generated “just under 20 leads” for a living donor.

Casper now is waiting to see if any of those leads is a match for him. Privacy laws protect the identity of the respondents as they go through the screening process at Froedtert.
