100 Women Attend Florida Hospital Fish Memorialâs Interfaith Tea
Change your Life with Florida Hospital
ORANGE CITY, Fla., October 15, 2013 â" On September 22, more than 100 women attended âA Cup of Faith,â the Florida Hospital Fish Memorial 11th annual Womenâs Interfaith Prayer Celebration at the DeBary Golf and Country Club for an afternoon of prayer, music, inspirational readings and sisterhood.
Participants enjoyed a multi-cultural celebration of faith and friendship, featuring various guest speakers of diverse faiths and inspiring music.
âThe idea is to promote and encourage diversity of faith and culture,â said Roxanne Hopkins, Florida Hospital Fish Memorial Director of Rehab Services and event chair. âOur presenters are of many faiths, including Seventh-day Adventist, Judaism, Catholicism, Islam, Hindu and BaháâÃ. We learn about each other and realize that even though we all are of different faiths and cultures, we all believe in God, the Supreme Being who loves and cares for us, and gives us hope each day.â
One such speaker, Joan Kinsey, spoke about how her unwavering faith as a Christian Catholic has supported her throughout lifeâs many challenges.
Kinsey, a DeLand resident for nearly 50 years, spoke about how her faith led her through difficult health issues for both herself and her husband, as well as the tragic loss of her teenage grandson in a car accident. He was in a vehicle with friends and a reckless driver caused the crash. Kinseyâs daughter faced the painful decision of withdrawing life support and donating his organs to others in need. This loss is dramatized in the film âThe Fifth Quarterâ starring Andie McDowell as Kinseyâs daughter and Aidan Quinn as her son-in-law.
