Multi-organ transplant patient waiting for blood type O organ donor

24year old, Molly Pearce of Santa Monica, California is in need of a blood type O deceased organ donor to donate 4 organs to her- a kidney, small intestine, pancreas and liver. Doctors have informed Molly in order to avoid possible future rejection, all organs would have to come from one deceased O donor.

Molly was born with Hirschsprung's disease, a congential disorder that affects the large intestine (colon) and causes problems with passing stool. Hirschsprung's disease is present when a baby is born (congenital) and results from missing nerve cells in the muscles of a portion of the baby's colon. She was given a kidney by her mother in 2007 which rejected shortly there after due to a blood transfusion at UCLA in 2011. At the age of 13, she received a small intestine transplant. About a month ago, doctors explained to her that they would have to remove all her organs due to the rejection/infection. She is now on the National Waiting List for all for organs to become available which could take years. Molly is a at University of Nebraska Medical Center awaiting a life-saving donor.

Time is of the essence here and we saved our father from kidney disease by finding him a donor via social media, bypassing the National Waiting List (2-10years or longer) according to UNOS ( United Network for Organ Sharing).

On December 12, 2008, my sisters and I conquered the inevitable, finding a living donor on craigslist.org for our father who was dying of kidney disease. Unfortunately, we were not matches for our father. Working as a nurse for many years, I knew the national waiting list and or dialysis were not options for us. We had used the online site, craigslist.org before for networking, selling our jewerly, for childcare, as well as for jobs and it proved to be a success. So we thought why not use it for finding dad a donor?

After a year and 4 months, much media exposure and over 100 responses from those all across the country, a unknown woman from Monterey, California came forward, saving our father's life. From there, our foundation was born. Today, "The Flood Sisters Kidney Foundation of America" provides matching services to those in need of living kidney donors for transplant, including pediatric and adult patients. We saved a total of six lives, including our father. We are working on kidney transplants in London this year.
