10 Year Old Saves Five Lives Through Organ Donation

IOWA CITY, Iowa-- An Eastern Iowa Family is speaking out in the wake of the tragic loss of their little boy in hopes of saving the lives of others. Ten year old Garret Brockway of Burlington died in February, three days after a tree in his families yard fell and hit him on the head.

In the wake of their grief his parents made the selfless decision to donate Garrett's organs and tissues, saving the lives of others.

When Garrett Brockway died, his organs saved the lives of 5 people.
His corneas and tissues enhanced the lives of many more.
His parents have found great comfort in that and are now encouraging others to register to give the gift of life.

"He was very athletic, full of life, his two favorite loves in life were Kit-Kats and the St. Louis Cardinals," said Tiffani Brockway, Garrett's Mom.

Though their 10 year son Garrett is gone, Bruce and Tiffani Brockway know he lives on in each of the people his organs helped saved.

"It's been a bright light in our lives and it brought some positive things out of a tragic situation," said Bruce Brockway, Garrett's Dad.
