U.S. Transplant Waiting List Climbs to over 117,000

The unbridled increase in those now waiting for a life-saving organ transplant has climbed to over 117,000. According to the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) website, the transplant candidate wait-list by organ are as follows:
ALL ORGANS: 117,280

  • KIDNEY:                         95,578
  • LIVER:                            15,712
  • PANCREAS:                     1,189
  • KIDNEY-PANCREAS:       2,136
  • HEART:                            3,490
  • LUNG:                              1,668
  • HEART-LUNG:                      50
  • INTESTINES:                      257
