On Oct. 6, 2006, 18-year-old Austin High School graduate Tracie Hester passed away near Nacogdoches as the result of an automobile accident.

Known around her school for her kindness and giving spirit, Hester continued to give back to those around her after her untimely passing through organ donation. Hester was a Life Gift donor and was able to help more than 100 people through organ and tissue donation.

The Travis and Austin high school communities have been greatly affected by Hester’s passing. In the difficult months following her passing, a scholarship fund was created in her name to continue the life and legacy of Tracie Hester.
