Hoy inicia la semana Nacional para la Concientización de la Donación de órganos y tejidos en los Grupos Minoritarios, que se celebra del 1ro de agosto al 8 de agosto, es una recordación a escala nacional que busca aumentar la concientización de la necesidad urgente de donantes y trasplantes dentro de la comunidad multicultural, y educar al público acerca de los hechos y el proceso de cómo dirigir su decisión para Donar Vida. Aproximadamente 55 por ciento de quienes hacen parte de la lista nacional de espera para trasplantes de órganos corresponde a minorías. Then came the hard part: asking her cousin for a part of her liver. In April, doctors told Jennifer that without a transplant she probably had a year to live. Jennifer, 37, was already on transplant waiting lists in two states, but it was going to take too long, they said. She needed to think about a living donor.
